Places of Interest
Belmont Lake on the picturesque shores of Belmont Lake, the Belmont Lake Brewery is a charming mall-scale craft brewery that is worth a visit. In 2011, the owners of the brewery moved to the area from England, bringing with them a shipping container brewery and a vision to brew traditional English beer with a Canadian twist. Five years later, their vision has become a reality. The brewery building is designed to be eco-friendly, utilizing local timber for the board and battening, and even incorporating a few Victorian stained=glass panels that were brought over from England into the interior walls. Stop by and enjoy a tour of the brewery while sampling their exquisite beer.
The Gut Conservation Area, situated to the north of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen township is a must-see destination for nature lovers. At the heart of the conservation area lies the “Gut”, an extensive gorge through which the Crowe River flows for about 230 meters. The area covers roughly 400 acres, providing ample space for visitors to explore and discover its wonders. The conservation area offers various amenities such as a parking lot, walking trails, a lookout area, and a stairway leading down to the gorge, ensuring that visitors can enjoy this natural treasure safely and comfortably.
The Mathison Property is a stunning 250 acre natural area featuring beautiful forests and wetlands, situated to the north of the village of Havelock. Visitors can enjoy 1.6 kms of multi-use trails suitable for walking, biking, and ATV/snowmobiling, as well as a 1.1 kms of walking-only trails. This remarkable property was generously donated to the Township by John Mathison in 2001, with the aim of promoting conservation, education and recreation activities in the area.
Cordova Falls has three areas: Upper, Middle, and Lower. Upper Cordova Falls cascades down a narrow rocky channel, breaking into 5 small drops. Middle Cordova Falls is the most photogenic, hiding behind the Cordova Lake Hydroelectric Generating Station. Lower Cordova Falls is the smallest but located beside a beautiful rock-floored clearing. All three areas offer stunning natural beauty and photo opts galore!
Visit high Spring Trading Post to step into the past and explore an original Frontier Town with a saloon, mercantile, barber shop, jail and more. Don’t miss the used clothing store, Boot Hill and the village with painted Tee Pee’s and Totem Poles. Meet the family and see the leather products being made in the workshop.
