With all these options available, residents can enjoy unique experiences and embark on exciting day adventures right at their doorstep.

Reason 1

Public transportation is very limited. With only 2 routes that run 4-5 times a day to Peterborough, busing to work would not be ideal.  Living in Selwyn would almost definitely require the use a of a vehicle.

Reason 2

The township of Selwyn offers a welcoming and supportive environment for families, with a strong emphasis on community and family values. The low crime rate is also a great indication of the safety and security of the area.  It’s always reassuring to know that there are family-friendly events and festivals taking place throughout the year, providing opportunities for families to come together and enjoy fun activities.

Reason 2

Limited types of employment can make it challenging to find full time work and seasonal employment may not provide a stable income throughout the year. The presence of a few larger companies like Savage Arms, may offer some employment opportunities, but it may not be enough to support the needs of all residents.

Reason 3

Nestled amidst numerous lakes and trails, Selwyn is an idyllic outdoor haven offering endless opportunities for swimming, fishing, hiking, boating and various other outdoor activities. During the summer months, seasonal cottage -goers, tourists and locals flock to the region to beat the heat and bask in the beauty of the lakes.  Selwyn is truly a nature lover’s paradise, with its scenic surroundings and diverse range of outdoor activities.

Reason 3

Looking for big box stores… Selwyn is not where you will find them. Selwyn embraces the smaller locally owned and run stores like Cottage Toys, Craftworks and Antiques at the Barn.  You will need to head into Peterborough for chain stores like Walmart, Best Buy and Staples to name a few.

Reason 4

This provides residents with easy access to a wide range of amenities, enabling them to enjoy the best of both worlds. They can work in Peterborough while heading home to the peaceful surroundings of a small-town country retreat without the lengthy commute.

Reason 4

It’s important to note for families that when their child reaches high school, they will likely have to endure bus rides to Peterborough to attend school. While this can provide great opportunities for new experiences and access to quality high schools, it can also result in a long tiring day for students. This can be particularly challenging for students involved in after-school activities who require transportation home.

Reason 5

Good Education: Selwyn has an excellent education system, several public and private schools offering quality education from Kindergarten to High School.

Reason 5

Driving in and around Selwyn, although a beautifully scenic ride, it can be a long ride when driving around lakes and over causeways to get to certain areas. Traffic in the morning and evenings over the causeway can be hectic.
